Ty Rivard
April 24, 1972 – August 15, 2021
Ty Rivard was born April 24, 1972 in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan. He passed away August 15, 2021 at his home in Halifax. Ty was one of the earliest members of the Mosh family, and became a well known fixture of the Halifax landscape. He lived on and off the streets for years, endearing himself to many with his infectious laughter, witty yet sometimes incomprehensible tales, and his kind and peaceful nature. Ty was a voracious reader of Stephen King, enjoyed a challenging game of Chess, and confessed a love for the musical stylings of Burton Cummings. A soccer player in earlier years, Ty was an active, outdoorsy guy at heart. Throughout the obstacles and tough times he endured, Ty possessed an astounding resilience and never lost his compassion and caring for others, nor his ability to find joy in life. Ty will be greatly missed by the humans of Halifax, and folks at Mosh Housing First, the Friendship Centre and Out of the Cold Shelter. Our city won’t be the same without Ty Rivard, but we are all better people for having had him in it.
A natural burial and a small gathering to remember Ty, will take place at Sunrise Park Cemetery, 2025 Prospect Road, Hatchett Lake, on Tuesday September 21 at 10:30am. All are welcome.
