Thomas Brian Robinson 2021

Thomas “Brian” Robinson
Thomas “Brian” Robinson, of
Kentville, Nova Scotia, passed away as result of a heart attack on
Sunday, December 12, 2021 in Valley Regional Hospital,
Kentville.
Born in
Wigan, England, Brian was a graduate in engineering from St.
John’s College, Cambridge University. A few days after
graduation he married Judy Freckelton, and together they emigrated to
Montreal. Brian had already been recruited by Northern Electric in
Canada, and he soon became a supervisor, moving steadily up in the
company until he became part of the Bell-Northern Research Laboratory
team in Bramalea necessitating a family move to
Ontario.
Following
Judy’s death, he married Barbara Jones and enjoyed
twenty-six years of exploring Nova Scotia, absorbing its history and
culture, and many times saying he had found his spiritual
home. For many years Brian availed himself of courses offered
by Acadia University, in the process learning how to do life-writing
so he could leave a written record of his life and times for his
children. He wanted them to know and to understand the guy they called
“Dad”. He called his book,” Somewhere Near Eden”,
a tribute to Nova Scotia. As he wrote, “I really understand why
Maritimers, of all the people I have met, never lose the yearning to
come home. I find life, love, peace, and the opportunity to be, right
here in Nova Scotia … I think this is as close to Eden as I
will ever be.”
He
leaves to mourn, his wife, Barbara; his five adult children, David
(Cathy), Christine (Rick), Michael (Kay), Peter (Tina), and Kim
(Rick); seven grandchildren; several great-grands; as well as
stepchildren, Erika and Sharon Lloyd; special friend, Jim Bray; and
those he knew and loved in the Wolfville L’Arche Homefires
community.
According to
his wish, Brian was cremated. His other wish was that those he loved
and those he knew as acquaintances and friends over the years would
raise a glass of fine wine or beer to celebrate his long and fruitful
life. Go in peace, dear Brian. Donations in memory may be made
to Valley Regional Hospital Foundation or L’Arche Homefires.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
