Theresa Skyba (Tourigny)
The family wishes to announce the passing of their mother “Theresa” Leona Skyba (née Tourigny) on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at the age of 93 years. Loving wife to William “Bill” Skyba predeceased 1995. Wonderful mother to Gerald “Gerry” (Wendy) predeceased 2010, Mimie (Norma Kowal), Debbie (Ron Nelson), Michael (Janice) and Terry (Sylvie). Special Nana to Shelly (Jeremy Reed), Tim (Kirsten), Christopher (Kate), Nancy, Eric, Michael, Alexandre, Spencer, and Logan. Great Nana to Cameron, Matthew, Avery, Elliot, and Berenger. Beloved sister and best friends to Evelyn “Evy” Marleau (Henry) both predeceased and Fred Tourigny (Carla). Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Family was always of the utmost importance to Theresa. She recently shared with one of the staff at York Extendicare when asked how many children she had, her response was “5 children whom she stated are 5 great-friends”. Holiday dinners and gatherings were sure to have delicious and plentiful meals, a whole lot of laughter and on occasion a little rowdiness in Skyba fashion which brought immense pleasure and happiness to Mom. Theresa shared many years with friends playing cards, whether it be in her own home, the Legion, the YMCA or wherever someone was willing to play. Reading, completing crossword puzzles and watching the Toronto Blue Jays baseball games on television, were also enjoyable hobbies. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Staff at York Extendicare Nursing Home, on the 6th floor for the incredibly compassionate care for their mom received for the past 3 years. Thank you to Dr. Natalie Goodale for the many years of care once Mom moved back to Sudbury from Elliot Lake. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury, Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home parlor. Wearing of masks is mandatory and social distancing is required.
