Theresa’s Obituary
Theresa Gall was born to her parents Frank and Anne Kuran in Trail, British Columbia on October 5, 1938. In her early tears in Trail, she especially enjoyed times shared with her godparents Ed and Evelyne Moretti and their family. After the sudden death of her grandfather, Frank Vitanovec, the family moved back to Nampa so that Frank could help on the Vitanovec farm. Initially, they lived in the Victory Hotel in Peace River where Frank and Anne worked and Theresa attended Centre Street School in Peace River. Theresa then went to live with her grandmother Cecilia Vitanovec, Aunt Mary, and Uncle Charlie while her parents were working in Peace River. She enjoyed her life on the farm and attended Nampa Pubic School.
When her father accepted a job as custodian for the Nampa Public School and began his farming career, the family moved to a home in Nampa. Her sister Lorraine was born in 1951 and her brother John was welcomed to the family in 1957. Theresa helped care for her siblings and assisted her parents with cleaning the school.
Theresa met Joseph (Joe) Gall and they were married on July 29. 1958. They welcomed daughter Joan in 1959 and daughter Kathy in !962. In the early years of their marriage, they lived upstairs in Joe’s business, the Nampa Esso Garage. Theresa was always an efficient secretary, and assisted him with bookkeeping for both the garage and his farmwork. They later moved into their own home and resided in Nampa.
Theresa was an amazing mother and enjoyed her time nurturing her children at home. When they attended school, she was an avid volunteer with their school activities and field trips. She always made to attend their concerts and be a part of their extra-curricular activities.
When her daughters became older, Theresa began babysitting Wayne and Cheryl Hiebert during the school day and they became part of her extended family. Theresa then began employment as secretary-treasurer of the Nampa Separate School District. When the district amalgamated with North Peace Catholic Schools, she became the school secretary and a part time teacher assistant until the closure of thr school and her retirement in 1994.
Theresa was a member of the Nampa Catholic Women’s League for 63 years. She served as Archdiocesan Spiritual Convenor for tthe C.W.L for one term. Her faith was very important to her. Theresa served on parish council at St. Charles Parish. She also served on the Liturgy Committee for many years and was involved in the ministries of sacristan, lector and music.
Theresa was adventurous and liked to travel, beginning with a trip to New York when she was 16 ywars old to visit her aunt and uncle. She enjoyed family camping trips to the mountains as well as visits to relatives in British Columbia. She also enjoyed trips and tourd to Vancouver, Los Angeles, and well as two cruises to the Caribbean.
Community was important to Theresa and she volunteered in various capacities. She coordinated canvassing for the Canadian Cancer Society and was the executive for the Nampa Ladies’ Curling Club. She valued reading and was a volunteer and board member for the Nampa Public Library. She also did bookkeeping for the Nampa Catholic Cemetery.
Theresa played the accordion and the piano. For a short time, she was the parish organist at St. Charles Parish. She enjoyed dancing, skating, and curling. Theresa liked to garden and nurture her flowers. She also loved to bake and cook. Theresa was known for preparing delicious meals for family members and friends. She especially liked cake decorating and made numerous beautiful birthday cakes, anniversary cakes, and wedding cakes. Theresa was very artistic and enjoyed painting, quilting, calligraphy, and various crafts. She was always eager to try new things.
In 2014, Theresa mourned the passing of her husband, Joe. In 2020, she moved to Points West Living in Peace River where she resided until her passing on November 18, 2021.
Theresa was predeceased by her parents Frank and Anne Kuran, brother in law Matthew Gallo, and great nephew Jeremy. She is survived by her daughters Joan and Kathy; sister Lorraine, brother John (Darlla), three nephews, two nieces and three great nephews.
Funeral services for the late Theresa Gall were held at St. Charles Parish and Our Lady of Peace with Father Nel Esguerra officiating. Interment followed at the Nampa Catholic Cemetery.
