Thelma Muriel (Smith) Fielden
January 27, 1931 – June 4, 2021
FIELDEN, Thelma Muriel (nee Smith) – Dartmouth – age 90 passed away peacefully on June 4, 2021, at Admiral Long Term Care Centre. Thelma was born January 27, 1931, in Upper Burlington, Hants, Nova Scotia.
She is survived by her sons Stephen and Mark, daughters Luana Fielden and Tanya Campbell, daughters-in-law Jocelyn and Nancy, son-in-law David Campbell, 16 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren – all whom she loved dearly.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Aubrey Arthur, parents Claude Melvin and Mary Lavinia Ruth Sanford Smith, and siblings Frederick and Arthur.
Thelma worked as an Audit Clerk for The Canadian Coast Guard and studied at Saint Mary’s University.
After joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1953, she served in various church callings. She supported her husband, Aubrey, in his church service as well.
Thelma and Aubrey opened their home freely to others. They extended a hand of welcome to everyone they met. Many people enjoyed delicious meals around their table. Over the years, they provided room and board for dozens of young people who became like family.
Thelma loved to cook and bake! She shared her pickles, jam, and salsa with others and loved to be busy in the kitchen.
Her time living on Baker Drive was very enjoyable. The residents and staff treated her like family, and she enjoyed playing games, doing crafts, and visiting with others.
Special thanks to the staff at Admiral Long Term Care for their dedicated attention, compassion, and support for the short time Thelma was there.
Funeral arrangements will be announced when details are finalized.
