Obituary of Terry Ross
1928 – 2021 Joseph Terence Ross passed away peacefully at his home with his devoted wife by his side on Saturday, November 13th, 2021. He was in his 93rd year. Born in Gort, Ireland on December 30th, 1928 to George and Elizabeth Ross (nee White), Terry immigrated to Canada in 1957, leaving a career as a police officer in the Hertfordshire Constublary to eventually follow his dream and become a Conservation Officer for the Ministry of Natural Resources in Owen Sound. Terry is survived by his wife, Barbara Ross (nee Williams), his children Lynn Basso (Barry), of London, Graham Ross (Debbie) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Faith Ross (Richard Seward) of Newmarket, Davina Ross of Owen Sound, Carolyn Irving (Bryan) of London and stepfather of Susan Henry-Scott (Paul) and Andrea Henry (Dave Rutherford) both of Leith and Gordon Henry (Jean) of Vancouver. Terry is also survived by his 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife, Winefride Ross (nee Ireland) (1974), his parents, George and Elizabeth Ross, his brothers Donald “Tuck” (Philomena McCarthy), John “Ging”, Brian (Phyllis Smith), Nial (Eileen Smith) and Dermot (Phyllis Anns), his stepdaughter, Sara Lee “Sally” Henry. A special thank you to Melissa Olmsted, owner of Caring Souls, for coordinating the care Terry received that exceeded every expectation. We cannot say enough about how grateful we are with the level of compassion and professionalism all the girls provided to Terry over the course of his illness. A special mention to Jackie who got us through some tough days, always with a smile, a story and a willingness to go the extra mile.
