Steve Hinkewich suddenly passed away on Wednesday, October 6th at Holy Family Home at the age of 93. Born in a tiny farm house in Libau, Manitoba in 1928, Steve liked to refer to himself as a ‘Depression Baby’ who had 5 brothers and 3 sisters. He moved to Winnipeg, met Marion, his wife of 37 years, and started a family. He made a career at Canadian Pacific Railway where he made numerous friends, and had been retired for 35 years.
Always good-natured and equipped with a good sense of humour, Steve never complained about his several ailments and enjoyed a good laugh, especially after beating you at a game of crib or one of many other card games, which he loved to play. He was deeply devoted to his Holy Trinity Church and the committees he served on.
Steve leaves behind his wife Diane, her children and grandchildren, his two sons, Bryan (Vivian) and Ron (Darlene), 5 Grandchildren; Ryan, Chris, and Scott, Greg and Kirstie, 9 Great Grandchildren and his sister, Ann Manko.
He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.
The family would like to thank the Holy Family Home for their outstanding care of Steve over the last five months.
