Soong Don Mar passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at the age of 84.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Han Fong, children Garry, Phelan, Sharah (Zach) and grandsons Daisen and Dorian.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Yen Shong and Fee Quien Mah and his daughter Sophia.
Soong Don was born in Canton, China in 1937 and immigrated to Canada as a teenager in the 1950s. Don worked in the restaurant and hotel industry for many years. He always found the time to do things that brought him joy. Whether it was gardening, carpentry, to building unique kites and flying them, Don enjoyed working with his hands. An avid storyteller, he shared many stories about his life and work travels as a cook on the CN railways. Don was kind to animals and an excellent Chinese calligrapher. He was devoted to his family and was proud of his children.
We would like to thank the physicians and nurses at Grace Hospital for their care of Don during his final stay.
Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2021 at Bardal Funeral Home. Please RSVP to 204-837-1685 to attend.
