Obituary
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Edwin Donald “Sonny” Leonard that occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, September 27th, 2021. Born on August 24, 1938, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Edwin and Audrey (Magee) Leonard. Sonny began his career in accounting working for the Royal Bank and then for Barnes Hopkins. He then worked in administration for McKnight Motors until his retirement. He was a longtime member of the NB Kennel Club and a member of the African Violet Association.
Sonny is survived by his sisters Irene Craft (the late Doug Craft) of Saint John, Brenda McDonald (Michael) of Mississauga, ON; 5 nieces and nephews, 6 great nieces and nephews and 5 great-great nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Sonny was predeceased by his sister Isabel (Bud) Nogueira.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). As per Sonny’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Graveside Service will take place at Fernhill Cemetery on Friday, October 1st at 3 p.m. Those that wish to attend, please meet at the Fernhill office parking lot just before service time. Donations in memory of Sonny can be made to the SPCA-Animal Rescue or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
