SICOTTE Albert — avis de deces

SICOTTE, Albert

1935 – 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, pepere, great-grandfather, and friend, Joseph Albert Edmond Sicotte, age 86, on August 14, 2021.
Albert was predeceased by his father Roland Sicotte; mother Therese Sicotte-Mahé; stepfather Frank Mahé; brothers Jean Sicotte and Gilbert Sicotte; in-laws Adrien and Gilberte Bessette; and sisters-in-law Grace, Mona, and Mary. He is survived by his wife Doreen (née Bessette); daughters Colette (Phil), Linda (Larry), and Gina (Nicholas); grandchildren Marc (Poonam), James (Angela), Chantal (Tim), Daniel (Jessica), Blaine, Mitchell (Alexa), Sienna, and Savanna; great-grandchildren Charlie, Isabelle, Neylan, Zoey and Evelyn; brother Marcel (Midge); sisters Jeanette (Gerry), Madeline (Bob), and Marie; brothers-in-law Gerry and Steve; sisters-in-law Louise, Paulette, and Viviane (Bill); and many nieces and nephews.
Albert was born and raised in St. Pierre, Manitoba and moved to St. Boniface in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Albert and Doreen met in 1957, married in 1959, and went on to build their own business. Their first business was Marion Autobody (1968 – 1981). During that time, they built their first dream home and also acquired their family cottage at Bird River where they raised their girls and created wonderful lifetime memories.
They moved to Kelowna in 1981, where they owned and operated Fairfield Collision Repair. Albert and Doreen also built their second dream home in 1991 on Okanagan Lake. This house became a hub for family gatherings, and it continued the legacy of family time for the new generation of grandchildren.
Albert and Doreen also enjoyed many winters at their vacation home in Arizona. This is where Albert mastered his art of woodworking and also explored many other art forms (except for line dancing). He especially loved going to the McKersie Ranch where he had his own bunkhouse to be a ranch hand, hunt, and ‘play’ cowboy.
Albert had many passions in his life, but foremost was the love for his wife and family. He was a jack of all trades and a master of many, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. Albert enjoyed many adventures and hobbies such as skydiving, taxidermy, carving, waterskiing, painting, reading, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, walking, and fishing; but his favourites were hunting and woodworking. One adventure that stands out was flying as a co-pilot with his brother Gilbert to attend the Alaska Highway Centennial.
Albert was blessed to be at home, with his wife, in his final days. We would like to extend our gratitude to our dear Linda for her unconditional love and availability. We are also grateful to the palliative team, all other family members and close friends for their support. We were surrounded with love.
A private family ceremony will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021. This will be followed by an open house for those who wish to pay their respects at Albert and Doreen’s home in Kelowna, BC from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
