Shirley Herlevsen
March 8, 1939 – April 26, 2021
Shirley Herlevsen (Perkes) of Richmond, B.C passed away on Monday, April 26th, 2021 at 82 years of age following a stroke. For the past several months Mom struggled with Alzheimer’s disease but maintained her crusty “Perkes” sense of humour to the end. She is, and will be, fondly remembered by those who cared for her in her final months.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Elva Perkes of Gainsborough, Saskatchewan.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Kim) Campbell (their children, Rhonda, Marshall, Carly and Sadie) and Tracy (Doug Krem) Janes (daughter, Dayna); her son, Corey (Karen) Herlevsen (their children, Joshua, Sara and Jessie) as well as many great-grandchildren.
Along side many memories, a solid work ethic and much love, Mom passes down a life-long love of planting/gardening and a love for animals. From Rik Tik Smack when we were young kids to her last feline companion Buddy, Mom always had cats and dogs around to dote on. Although life’s twists and turns led her to BC where she raised her family, Gainsborough was always home in her heart. She loved every chance she had to come back just for a visit or for special events such as Gainsborough’s 100th birthday celebrations. She will be laid to rest at the Gainsborough Cemetery alongside her beloved parents.
We, her children, would like to express our most sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Hamilton Village Care Center (Richmond) for their thoughtfulness and professionalism in caring for Mom and also being sensitive to the needs of the family.
