McLean/Thornton, Shirley Pearl (née Hanna) – It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of Shirley Pearl Thornton on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the age of 71. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Greg Thornton. She will be deeply missed by her children Dione McLean (Fran Watson), Tina Cameron (Steve), Kimberley McLean, John McLean (Jennifer), Mike Thornton (Lisa) and Michelle Kooistra (Richard). Loving “Nana” of Hailee Watson (Brad), Tyler Watson (Sarah); Anna-Marie Hickson, Blake Hickson (Melissa), Ashley Hickson (Greg), Hannah Hickson; James Brooks, Samuel Blodgett, Aurora Blodgett; Hunter McLean, Autumn McLean, Payton McLean; Connor Thornton and Christina Thornton. “Great Nana” of 5; Dayton, Aaliyah, Gavin, Olivia and Charlee-Marie. Shirley will be remembered by her sisters, Dianne Russell (Peter), Linda Steele (Tom) and brother Johnny Hanna. Predeceased by her late husband Barry McLean (1990). She will be missed by her sister-in-law’s Brenda Verwey (Barry), Janice Eccelstone (Miles) and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Shirley will be remembered for her kind heart, quick laugh and the smile she always had to greet you. Known for the best hugs, and special love she had for each of us left behind. Visitation will take place at the Stoddart Funeral Home, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay on Monday, July 12th from 2:00p.m. – 4:00p.m. and from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date. If desired, a memorial donation to the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lifford or the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Kawartha Lakes or a local charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
