MacRae, Shirley Isabel (1925 – 2021) It is with sadness yet joy we announce the peaceful passing home calling of Shirley Isabel MacRae on Monday, December 27th, 2021, at her residence in Stirling Manor, at the age of 96 years. Daughter of the late Herbert and Mabel Scaife, wife of 56 years to the late Edmund MacRae. Mother of 4; Gerald (Linda), William (Sandra), Donald (Carol), and Cheryl (Reyni). Grandmother of 8; Elizabeth, Jennifer, David, Michael, Jeff, Ronda, Justin, and Patrick. Great-grandmother of 21 and great-great-great grandmother of 4. Shirley was the last surviving sibling of the Scaife clan of 12. Her sisters were Dorothy, Audrey, Olive, Jean, and her brothers were George, Bill, Bunt, Howard, Fred, Frank, and the last Gordon. Although she did work for a short season at the Campbellford Beckers, and volunteered at the Baptist Busy Bees, Shirley’s most consuming role was of dedicated wife and mother. She grew up during the depression years and was an expert in making the most satisfying meals from what ever she had on hand. She was also very accomplished in crafts, knitting, macrame, and crocheting. Her hands stayed busy making many gifts one’s remembered by all but particularly her grandchildren. She loved to play games from cards, to board games such as ring toss and lawn darts, being a bit competitive made for many entertaining sessions. A gardener as well, both flowers and vegetable grew bountifully under her helping guiding hands. She will be greatly missed but not forgotten. There will be no funeral services at this time but a celebration of life will be planned for the late spring. Any donations on behalf of Shirley, can be made to the Canadian Bible Society. Arrangements entrusted to the STIRLING FUNERAL CHAPEL 87 James St., Stirling (613-395-2424). To leave a condolence, please visit www.rushnellfamilyservices.com
