Born in Toronto Ontario.
Passed away on June 28, 2021, peacefully in her sleep at 85 years old. Predeceased by her husband Al Dancs and Sister Carolyn (Mclean) Morrison. Loved and missed by her 3 children – Kevin Dancs (Linda Buchanan), Sandi McConnach (David) and Janis Dancs (Scott Adams), 10 Grandchildren – Marcus, Kevin, Alex, Matthew, Colby, Paige, Dexter, Maxwell, Alexandria, and Lukas and 2 Great Grandchildren – Veronica and Ailie. Survived by her brother Tom Hancock (Linda) as well as many nieces and nephews. Shirley graduated from High School in 1953 and from Nursing School in 1956. Soon after, she moved to the West Coast with a group of nurses and shared an apartment between 8 of them working shiftwork. Shirley met her husband, Al at Yellow Point lodge on Vancouver Island and they were engaged 6 weeks later. They married in 1959 in Sarnia, Ontario and set up their household in Vancouver. Their 3 children were all born and raised in Vancouver. Shirley was involved in many different community activities. She loved aqua fit at Bonsor Community Centre and getting together with neighborhood friends. She was a stay-at-home Mom who volunteered her time in the nursing unit at the ice rink, at the children’s schools, for a C.G.I.T. group, in senior’s homes and helping people with their taxes. Shirley loved her cabin at Cultus Lake and made many friends there over the years. The cabin was a gathering place for friends and family where Al and Shirley spent most of their summers when they were not travelling. Shirley has been all over the world as a tourist – U.K., U.S., Japan, China, South Africa, southern Asia and most European Countries. In 1972, she was one of the Canadian spectators that travelled to the USSR to cheer on Canada in the Canada-Soviet Hockey Summit Series. In Vancouver, she had many enjoyable times with her bridge club.
