Sherrian’s Obituary
McKay, Sherrian Madeline – Mineville
At age 77, passed away February 3, 2021 at the VG Palliative Care with her husband Joe by her side after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Halifax to John and Madeline Davies (predeceased) of Lake Echo on February 26, 1943. Sherrian had a long career with the HRCE at Lakeview Consolidated School in Porter’s Lake. She started working at Maritime Tel and Tel prior to having a family. She was a devoted mother to her three boys Michael (Joy) of Alberta, Lawerence (Cindy) of Mineville and Brian (predeceased) (Heather) of Lake Echo. She also leaves behind brother, Jack (Marcienne) of Enfield and Wayne (predeceased) Jessie of Lake Echo.
Sherrian was a devoted volunteer at the Dartmouth General Hospital, The Birches, Lake Echo Food Bank, and was a member of the Social Committee and a parishioner of St. Anne’s Church in Lake Echo. More than anything, she liked to spend time in the garden and belonged to the Eastern Shore Garden Club. Sherrian loved baking, quilting, sewing, painting,decorating. She really did it all. She loved travelling with friends and spending time at “The Camp” in Liscomb.
Her pride and joy was spending time with her grandchildren Amy (Geoff) of Dartmouth, Bethany (Katie) of Ottawa, Taylor (Christine) of Mineville, Ranon (Kohl) of Alberta and Kai(Hannah) of Halifax, also great grandchildren Abigail, Cyrus and Easton along with many family and friends. The family would like to thank all the support from friends, family and the staff at the VG 7th Floor Palliative Care. Because of COVID 19 restrictions it will be a service by invitation only at St Andrew’s Church at 11am Tuesday, Feb 9 in Eastern Passage with a burial to follow at the St Andrew’s Cemetery on Caldwell Road. Family flowers only donations in memory of Sherrian can be sent to Lake Echo Food Bank, 322 Ponderosa Dr, Lake Echo, NS B3E 1E2 or the Canadian Cancer Society.
