Mr. Russell Joseph Tyance, age 68 years, passed away peacefully at Hogarth-Riverview Manor on Saturday, September 25, 2021. Born in Fort William on November 30, 1952, he grew up in Gull Bay before moving to Thunder Bay as a young man. Russell worked as a Social Worker, a Firefighter with the M.N.R. as well as working at the Weendimagen Adult Treatment Center. A man with many gifts, he was a talented artist, he was very well spoken in Ojibway, and an excellent baseball player. Russell loved music, whether it be listening to it or playing his guitar. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Tanya (Dan) and her children Shayla, Kaleigh and Jordyn, Miranda (John) and her children Noah (Jayce, Zayne), Johnny (Zaara) and Amanda Fenton and her children Angela (Alaina and Emery) and Sage and Everette and Trevor Costin; siblings Frank (Brenda), Charlene (Andrew), Joey (Lisa) Tyance and Alec, Emily, Bull, Quezence, Helen, Art and Harry Gesic, mother of his daughters Yvonne Fenton as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Rachel, sisters Florida, Mary, Patricia, brother John, mother of his sons Diane Legarde and his parents Helen and Steve. A traditional service will be held in the Tyance family home in Gull Bay on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 2 p.m.. The interment will follow in Gull Bay Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
