Roy Stanley McClary
February 04, 1947 – April 28, 2021
The family of the late Roy Stanley McClary, “Stan the Man”, wish to announce his passing on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the QEII Halifax Infirmary. Our dear Stan is with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and is now more alive than ever!
Stan was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia on February 4, 1947 and was the son of the late Roy Blanchard McClary, and the late Florence Wyman McClary (Pettigrew). He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Judy (Sewell), daughter Jana MacDonald (Char), Halifax, son Jody (Sherilyn), two grandchildren, Christopher (Serena), Courtney, four great grandchildren, Cooper, Carter, Weston, Walker, Alberta, his only dear brother Freeman (Norma) Bridgewater, who have both been there for every anniversary we shared in our married lives and who will miss his brothers relentless razing, a loving sister Gail (Ken) British Columbia, who is many miles away but whose hearts were right beside us everyday. Also many cousins, nephews, and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, and two very special family members, Kendra and Aaron, and of course his fur grandbabies, Tiger, Halle and Lulu, the Bubbies.
Stan worked as a mechanic at Vee Eight Motors in New Glasgow in his early years and owned and operated many successful service stations in the area.
Stan was a volunteer firefighter with the New Glasgow Fire Department for many years. In his spare time he loved to bike, bowl, swim, and mall crawl often with his friend Fraser. He loved the game of baseball and was an avid baseball player and coach in his day and a diehard Blue Jays fan.
“Life is like the game of baseball. You always play to win, never giving up, even when you are down in the bottom of the ninth.” -Stan the Man
After coming to Halifax in 2003 to receive a second chance at life with a heart transplant, he wanted to explore his dream of working in the tour bus industry. Many thanks to David White for his start and Maritime Bus for helping him achieve his life long dream. He often said he saw many parts of Canada through the eyes of a windshield.
Judy and Jana wish to thank Stan’s special nurse, brother-in-law, Jackie, who cared for him through many long nights, our friend Wendy who supported us in countless ways, and our dear Aunt Allie who helped us through this difficult time. Also the amazing pharmacy team at Bayers Lake Superstore, all the doctors and nurses of the Heart Transplant team, especially Kate, urology clinic, pulmonary fibrosis clinic and support group, palliative care team, VON, Continuing Care, Respiratory Therapy Specialist Inc., and Bayshore Home care, the emergency department and 8.4 doctors and nurses, his pastors Diane and Colleen, Church of the Nazarene family in Lower Sackville and in Trenton, and all friends near and far, especially those four life long ones that we’ve shared so many special times with. God Bless each and everyone of you.
In his pain and suffering, Stan often repeated his favourite verse, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
No visitation or service will be held at this time. Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.
Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the SPCA.
Consider becoming an organ donor to give someone a second chance at life like Stan had.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Roy Stanley McClary February 04 1947 April 28 2021..

Saddened to hear of Stan’s passing. He always had a smile and a fun point of view. I will never forget his love of life and how humble he really was. All my best to Judy and Jana. God bless. John
