Ross Aikens 1934 2021

Obituary of Ross Aikens
Trenton – Aikens, Everett Hugh “Ross”, 87, of the Valley View Villa-Riverton, and formerly of Trenton passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 25, 2021. Born in New Glasgow, October 8, 1934. He was a son of the late Peter and Annie (Schrader) Aikens.
He worked at the Trenton Works Plant for almost 40 years. He was a loving father who worked hard his entire life to provide for his family. He enjoyed putting in a large vegetable garden and raising cows and chickens. He loved the outdoors and didn’t mind cutting, hauling and splitting wood to keep his family warm in the winter. He came from a musical family where everyone played at least one instrument. He played guitar and sang at home.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Mary (DeGruchy) Aikens and his children, Darlene (Bill) Purvis, New Glasgow; Barbara (Wayne) Butts, New Glasgow; David (Joanne) Aikens, Westville; Audrey (Tim) Jenkins, Hopewell; Joyce (Bert) Kelderman, Lyons Brook; Ross (Doreen) Aikens, Trenton; and Troy (Jennifer) Aikens, Trenton. Grandchildren, Jeffery, Janine, Carolyn, Charlene, Sarah, Jacob, Erin, Kelly, Andrew, Emma and Step-Grandchildren Jane and Marie as well as several great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his Sister Joyce Larisey and brothers; Harold, Ossie and Donald Aikens.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Valley View Villa that provided great care of Dad as we know that some had a special place in his heart.
A public graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Wednesday December 1st at 1:00 PM with Father MacDonald Ibeh presiding.
Donations in memory of Ross can be made to Valley View Villa-Palliative Care Rooms.
