Obituary
MACKIE, Rose Marie of Barrie passed away peacefully at Hospice Simcoe on December 7, 2021, in her 85th year after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Dearly loved wife and companion of Ron for over 40 years. Loving and devoted mother to Lisa Huitema (Roger), Bill Herbert (Gayle), Mike Herbert (Anita) and her stepchildren, Barb Mackie (late Gerry), Deb Sunstrum (Dennis), Sue Mackie, Paul Mackie (Debbie) and Sandra O’Hagan (Tim). Cherished grandmother to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rose will be sadly missed by her siblings Diane Perino (Bruno), Barb Mitchell (Jack). Predeceased by her brothers George and Tom.
Rose was a competitive 5 pin bowler and was inducted into the Huronia 5 Pin Bowlers Association as a bowler and a builder. Rose was not only a participant in the sport but was passionate about teaching the game. Rose also enjoyed the game of golf and has two “holes in one” to her credit.
Special thank you to the nurses, doctors, staff and volunteers of Hospice Simcoe for their care and compassion. In memory of Rose, donations to Hospice Simcoe would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Cremation has taken place and as per Rose’s wishes there will be no service. Cremation entrusted to Marshall W. Driver Cremation & Burial Service, 19 Ross Street, Barrie.
