Obituary of Ronald David Hoglund
HOGLUND: Ronald David –
A resident of Merlin, Ron Hoglund passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with his family at his side on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the age of 79.
Born in Dutton, son of the late Melvin and Beatrice (Coatup) Hoglund.
Beloved husband and partner for 48 years to Pat (nee Paré).
Dear father of Reg Hoglund of London, Ronna Hoglund of West Lorne, Brian Hoglund of Niagara Falls, the late Stephen Hoglund (2020) and Denise Hoglund-Ulch (Mike) of Merlin.
Proud Grampa/Papa to Angie, Derek, Lacey (Christina); Rae (Stephan), David (Lorne); Karolynn; Chris(Kerramay) and Caitlyn (Peter).
Great-Grampa to six great-grandchildren.
Brother to Geraldine Beacon (Mike) of West Lorne, Sandra McLeod (Carl) of Dutton, Darwin Hoglund (Bernadette) of London, Glen Hoglund (Carole) of Toronto and Wayne Hoglund (Mary) of West Lorne.
Brother-in-law to Elaine Sawchuck (Mike) and Roger Paré (Mary). Predeceased by his brother-in-law Gary Paré (Kaye).
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Ron was a veteran, having served overseas with the Canadian Army. Following his military service, Ron began building homes, eventually founding Ron Hoglund Construction. He built homes in Blenheim, Merlin and surrounding area for well over 30 years.
Ron was a perfectionist and he passed on his talent, his work ethic and his high standards to his children. He will forever be known as “Hoggie”.
As per Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
Donations made in memory of Ron to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
