Died peacefully on Thursday September 23, 2021 surrounded by family at the Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood in his 93rd year. Ron of Wasaga Beach, beloved husband of the late Joyce (nee Goodwin). Loving father of Michael (Janet), Chris (Sylvie) and David (Dianne). Cherished Grandfather of Andrea (Brandon Woodham), Nicole (John Hargrave), Whitney (Andrew Moore), Carly (Jeff Akitt), Bradley (Katelyn), Brittany (Jonathan Ingham), Nicholas Abbott, Rebecca (Chris Lindo), Blair and Kelsey and to great grandchildren Lilly, Addison, April, Emelia, Mackenzie, Charlee, Grace, Eleanor and another on the way. Ron is predeceased by his sister Frances and her husband John Walker. Ron will also be missed by his family in England, his neighbours and his many friends. Ron was a proud Englishman, having served with the Grenadier Guards at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. He loved working at Dehavilland Aircraft for 32 years. He was an athletic man who exercised regularly into his 90’s. He held a black belt in Judo and was victorious many times on the track. He enjoyed travelling with Joyce and he loved to gather with his family, cherishing the time they shared together. He will be missed. Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach on Wednesday September 29, 2021 from 11 a.m. for the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 12 noon. Reception to follow at the Marlwood Golf Club. If desired, donations to Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation for Campbell House would be appreciated by Ron’s family. Public health regulations restrict the capacity of the funeral home and clubhouse. Please utilize the RSVP tab on the funeral home website to register your attendance for the visitation, memorial service and the reception.
