Ron Smith April 28 2021

Ron Smith
May 2, 1932 – April 28, 2021
With great sadness we announce the passing of Ron Smith. He was predeceased by his wife Mae, his parents, sister Pearl, brother-in-law Pete and step daughter Marilyn. He leaves to mourn his passing step daughter Carol and husband Dennis, his grandchildren David (Christine), Cathy (Nick), Dan (Erica), Stephen (Cori), and his great grandchildren Kyla, Isabella, Zachary, Arianna and Connor.
Ron worked for Air Canada as a machinist and lead mechanic for 35 years and spent 11 of those years in Montreal. While in Montreal he and Mae travelled all across Eastern Canada with their camper. He was very happy to return to Winnipeg to be near family. After retirement he loved to fish and do renovations around their house. He cared for Mae at home for 3.5 years when she was suffering with heart disease. He also became a great cook and house keeper at this time. Unfortunately for the past 3.5 years he was unable to care for himself and went to live at Betel Home Foundation in Selkirk.
The family would like to thank the staff at Betel for the wonderful care he received. He was truly happy there.
At Ron’s request there will be no service. His and Mae’s ashes will be scattered near a lake in Manitoba.
