Ron William Kauk, passed away peacefully Christmas Day in Royal Victoria Regional Hospital (Barrie) due to advanced coronary disease.
Ron is survived by his four children, Charlene (Ralph) Downey, Ron Jr. (Audrey) Kauk, Kevin Kauk, and Daniel (Rye) Kauk, and his four siblings, Elaine (Chris) Baldwin, Dennis (Karen) Kauk, Eric (Kathy) Kauk and Paul (Nancy) Kauk. He was blessed with eight wonderful grandchildren all of whom he loved dearly: Cam, Cal, Reu, Quincy, Angus, Elliott, Lilly, and Daisy born in 2020. His thoughts were rarely far from his family both immediate and his huge extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was the first born of William and Cecilia (nee Goldner) Kauk (predeceased) of Bracebridge. Ron is also survived by his loving companion Copper (labradoodle) who he was constantly sneaking hot dogs to.
Ron loved the Tay Township, especially his home in Waubaushene. He was enthralled by the rich history, the geography, the people and even built a deck on the upper floor of his restored home that boasts the best view of Georgian Bay in town. If he wasn’t restoring and renovating his house or tending his property, you would find Ron, out in the bush, exploring local ghost towns, discovering new trails, volunteering on historical sites, or chatting up the neighbours while fishing. During his work career, Ron was a general contractor, site maintenance at Roundtree/Macintosh, then continuing to work with his skillful hands for Lever Brothers until his retirement in 1998. Seeking a quiet and simple existence, he accepted a position as general contractor at Mount Alverno, a Catholic Hermitage in Caledonia until he found his own slice of heaven in Waubaushene. Ron gave freely of himself and his skills, he was known as an incredibly gifted tradesman, that was able to create masterpieces from the ordinary. He was known as an incredibly dedicated and hard worker, someone who took great pride in his work and could be trusted and relied on. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all.
The family would like to include a special thank you to his wonderful caregiver, Amy, who was his angel. The family would also like to thank the staff and front line workers at Georgian Bay General Hospital, Southlake Regional Health Centre and Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for their exceptional care. Visitation will be held at Carson Funeral Home 290 First Street Midland, Monday January 4th, 2 – 4 and again 7 – 9, please call to book an appointment time, 705.526.6551. There will be a celebration of his life on his beloved slice of heaven once Covid restrictions cease. To make a donation, we would ask that you would consider supporting our First Nations communities, Ron felt very deeply for our First Nations brothers and sisters, learning their stories, and listening whenever he had opportunity. A few suggestions would be waterfirst.ngo/ or perhaps downiewenjack.ca/
