Rol, as he was known to most, was a devoted husband, father,
grandfather and great-grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride
and joy and he loved them dearly.
He was a prominent fixture in the sporting community and his
large voice could often be heard while refereeing hockey games, or
umpiring and coaching softball.
In June 2012 he was awarded with the Ray Bowe Award of Merit
for his outstanding contribution to the HNL officiating program which
was well deserved.
In addition he spent countless hours of his time volunteering
for seniors and serving in the Lion’s club.
He loved to entertain and was quick to pick up the guitar and
sing at many occasions.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew
him.
In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, the health and
safety of our families and our community continues to be our highest
priority. At this time, there will be a
public visitation from the Isles Funeral
Home, Twillingate on Thursday evening from 7-9pm. A funeral
service by invitation only, will take
place from the Salvation Army Citadel on Friday September 24, 2021 at
2pm; with Captains Keith and Charlene Barrett officiating.
