Nicholson, Robert (Bob) McIntosh- passed away at his home in Arcadia, Nova Scotia on June 8, 2021, after his battle with cancer. He was born July 14, 1930 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to William and Jean Nicholson, joining big brother Bill. Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years Patricia Aimee Nicholson (nee Becher) and his children William (Rose) Thunder Bay, Ontario, Heather (Dennis) Muise Arcadia, Nova Scotia and Kenneth (Diane) Sarnia, Ontario. Beloved Poppa to six grandchildren: Matthew, Courtney, Destiny, Nolan, Vaughan and Brittany. He is also survived by his brother Bill (Thelma) Langley, BC and nieces and nephews Drew, Susan, Brian, Paddy and Michael. Bob grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba with his family, later moving to Vancouver, British Columbia. He pursued a career as a shoe salesman, which would eventually take him to many places. Bob met Pat in 1957 in Vancouver, BC where she was visiting family. His first remarks to Pat were to comment that she had “hayseed in her hair” as he knew she had grown up on a farm. After a whirlwind courtship Pat would move to Vancouver in 1958. In 1959 they married in Silton, Saskatchewan and they would begin their married life in Surrey, BC. Bob’s work in British Columbia would end when he was offered a job with The Sisman Shoe Company in Aurora, Ontario. Bob and family would spend the next ten years in Aurora. With Ken’s special interest in hockey, Bob took pleasure in acting as a chauffeur for his practices and games. Also, Bob decided that he would become involved with Army Cadets since his son Bill was in the program and as Heather decided that she would also like to join. He figured that Heather would only last one month in Cadets, let alone a career in the Military for over 20 years! Bob would transfer to Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1981 to work until transferring to Sarnia, Ontario in 1984. Bob and Pat would spend the next 20 plus years in the Sarnia area working and meeting lots of people. Even though his own children were no longer involved in the cadet program he joined the Navy Cadets in Sarnia, Ontario. Once retired, they loved to meet friends at Tim Hortons. Bob and Pat loved to spend time with their grandchildren whenever possible. They would enjoy time with Ken & Diane and grandchildren Destiny, Nolan & Brittany in Sarnia and would travel to Thunder Bay to visit Bill, Rose & Vaughan. They also loved to travel and see grandchildren, Courtney & Matthew, visiting the many places where Heather and Dennis moved with the military. Bob was a wonderful supporter of his wife, Pat, throughout their married life. During her illness, Bob was steadfast in his care of her. As a loving father and grandfather, Bob was committed to the welfare of his family. His sense of humor and positive perspective on life were appreciated and admired by those around him. He was keenly interested in history and in current events in his community and country. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The Family would like to thank the VON nurses, Dr Lisa Gillis and staff from Palliative care and the Yarmouth Argyle Home Support for their care and support given to Bob and family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral home and Crematorium Yarmouth, NS. No visitation or service by request.
