Robert Keith Scott October 7 1950 November 24 2021 (age 71)

It is with overwhelming sorrow we say goodbye to an incredible man. Keith Scott passed away suddenly on November 24, 2021.
He leaves behind his wife and best friend of almost 50 years Sandra. He also leaves behind his daughters Janice (Dallas Root and his sons Owen and Evan), and Karen (Jean Petersen and grandson Lochlan) Lochlan was Papa’s little buddy who shadowed him daily.
He also leaves behind his 3 brothers Bill (Kathy), Jack (Carrie), Duncan (Vivien), and his sister Sherrie. He is also remembered by his sister-in-law Barbara (Hugh), and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Keith was born and raised in Nanaimo. He worked for BC TEL/Telus for 38 years.
After retiring from Telus, he worked part time for Peffers Contracting, driving truck and plowing snow in winter.
In his youth, Keith played soccer and softball. As a parent he coached both his daughters in softball. He was one of 2 coaches that worked with Karen’s competitive rep softball team and took them to many provincial championships. Keith was a level 3 umpire in Nanaimo. He fondly remembered umpiring, with his nephew, at Provincial Champion levels. In his 20 and 30s Keith enjoyed curling with his wife and friends. In the past 10 years he took up curling again and played with his daughter Janice as well as joining the seniors league. Both Karen and Janice loved that fact that their dad took such interest in what they were doing and enjoyed spending this special time with him.
Keith fostered a close family connection. He loved camping throughout the island. Over their 50 years together, Keith and Sandy went on adventures with family and friends. We hold very special family memories of camping at Muchalat Lake where he taught Lochlan, Owen and Evan how to fish. Keith’s family would gather at the lake and reconnect with each other. The camp fire was a special time where stories and songs would be shared. Keith and his brothers would laugh that the camp fire circle just kept getting bigger and bigger. He loved to fish, hike, and explore the area with Sandy and his girls.
Keith loved to go hunting. He was a responsible hunter who taught his kids to respect nature and have safe and ethical hunting practices. He treasured his trips with family and friends to central and northern BC and here on the island. Keith’s hunting partner Rick was more like a brother then a friend. Keith’s name is in the Big Game Record book for BC for a Roosevelt Elk thanks to hunting with his dad and Bob.
No service will be held at this time due to COVID 19 and poor weather. We will be holding a gathering in 2022 when we are able to safely meet and celebrate this wonderful man. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Nanaimo Curling Club in memory of Keith. Please keep in touch as Keith liked a gathering.
