ZEHR, Robert Harley “Bob”, 64, of Tavistock passed away suddenly on Tuesday June 15, 2021. He was born in Stratford on January 6, 1957 a son of the late Harley Zehr (January 8, 1996) and Elaine (Hall) Zehr. He was a member of East Zorra Mennonite Church, Tavistock.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie (Roth) Zehr, whom he married on August 16, 1980; He will be deeply missed by his two children, Brittany Zehr & Jordan Zehr, both of Tavistock; his sister, Judy Green and her husband Ken; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Cheryl Roth, Linda & Neil McKenna, Brian & Jeanette Roth, Richard Roth, Ross Roth, Mark & Carol Roth, Terry Roth, Kevin Riches as well as nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his father Harley Zehr; his father-in-law & mother-in- law, Wilfred & Elda (Baechler) Roth and his sister-in-law, Darlene Roth Riches.
After graduating from Fanshawe College with a Diploma in Business Agriculture, Bob joined the family business at Zehr Brothers Ltd. for over 20 years. Bob later became a Partner at Perth Financial Group spending 22 years as a financial advisor.
Bob loved spending time with his family and friends and following his children, nieces and nephews in their athletics. Bob was passionate about sports in the community and had an active role in Tavistock Minor Baseball and Tavistock Minor Hockey having played on and coached many teams throughout the years. He was General Manager & Director of Hockey Operations for the Tavistock Braves for eight seasons as well as General Manager for the New Hamburg Firebirds for two seasons and Convenor of the Junior C Hockey League.
Friends and family will be received at the Francis Funeral Home on Thursday June 17th from 1:30pm – 4pm and 6:30pm – 9pm. Covid restrictions will apply at the funeral home. Please be patient. A private family funeral service will be held at East Zorra Mennonite Church, 16th Line on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 2.30 pm. Pastor Ray Martin officiating.
