Obituary of Richard Shipman
It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our wonderful Father Richard Mansell Shipman on September 15th 2021. Richard is predeceased by his loving wife Bertha (Betsy) Margaret Shipman (née Dubue) DOD June 14th, 1995. Richard and Betsy were married August 4th, 1956
Richard (Dick) was born in Ottawa September 8th, 1936 to Phyllis (Lavigne) & Mansell Shipman (predeceased) also predeceased by Sisters : Patricia, Christine and brothers : Ron & Kieth. Richard leaves behind his sister Cathey Shipman.
Dad had a successful career as a plumber serving 50 years with Local 71. He worked on many of the buildings that still stand in Ottawa today and was very proud to speak about working on those buildings while driving by. Dad was a passionate Red Black’s fan and followed the Ottawa Senators & Blue Jay’s and was often spotted sporting his Florida Panther’s shirt and cap. Dad was also an avid 10 pin bowler back in the day. Many will remember Dad’s many Meme’s that always brought a laugh..
Richard is survived by his five children, MaryJane Munharvey (Jack), Elizabeth, Susan Devine (Dan), Raymond, Cheryl (Scott), Grandchildren, Christian (Kate), Claude (Cindy), Justin, Ryan(Jess) , Jayden, Chelsea, Stephanie, Casey (Valerie), Courtney(Mitch) Troy, Tye(Skyla), Makenzie(Maggie), Emily(Ross), Great grandchildren, Spencer, Amelia, Emma, Bria & Lincoln, Blakely & Bowie
Dad is resting comfortably reunited with Mom at Pinecrest Cemetery, we put him to rest September 23, 2021 with a private family celebration.
