Suddenly, at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the age of 57. Richard was kind, calm and instilled a sense of easy-going fun in all who knew him. His choice of career as a live audio technician caused his dear mother Linda no end of worry – she urged him to get a “real” job until at least the age of 42. After graduation from Algonquin in robotics, he toured constantly with local bands “The Shift” and “In and Out” for years, during which he learned to play pool and poker far too well. He longed to be a family man but touring and families are not the best of friends. He had already been living full-time in Ottawa and working at the NAC and the National Gallery (and local bars) for several years when he met Susan on a golf date in February, 2006 – the rest was history. He married Susan (along with her children Andrew and Laura – so says the wedding ring) in 2010, after surviving what would turn out to be the first of two open-heart surgeries earlier that year. They also built a cottage at Lac Ste-Marie that year – his (and her) happy place. He learned to ski for Susan, went with her to Bonnaroo after knowing her for 3 months, took her and the kids to India in 2007, Spain in 2009, Greece and Turkey in 2013, Costa Rica in 2020 and was looking forward very much to Ireland and Scotland as soon as the pandemic would allow. He was a wonderful step-father to Andrew (22) and Laura (18), and so proud of their accomplishments and who they grew to be. All who knew him liked him. He was a big fan of 80s rock, country music, chocolate and single malt scotch. Dear son of the late Linda Eileen (née Lonie) and the late Lucien Joseph Haché. Dearly beloved husband of Susan Hutton. Cherished step-father of Andrew and Laura Burney. Beloved brother of Robert (Joanne), Angela Van Hofwegen (Harry) and Jason (Rebekah). Dear son-in-law of Catherine Malone. Richard was dearly loved by his nieces and nephews: Hannah, Adam, Alex, Jakob, Mercedes, Shiloh, Anestacia, Korben, Estelle and Marigold.
