With incredible sadness the family of Rhoda Osmond announces her passing on August 14, 2021, at the Fogo Island Health Centre.
Rhoda was, without a doubt, one of the most well loved members of the community and we know she will not only be missed by her family and friends, but anyone who was blessed to know her.
Preceded in death by her parents John and Francis Cull; her husband Nathaniel/Nat Osmond; her siblings Rex, Raymond, Roland, and Elizabeth Cull; her children, Willis, Beulah, and Norman Osmond; and grandchildren Emily, Deonna, and Alex. We dearly hope she finds them again and can make up for time lost.
Left to mourn are her children, Daphne (Cedric) Payne, Charlie (Eileen) Osmond, Ross (Jeanie) Osmond, Winston (Linda) Osmond, Martha (Thomas) Boyko, and Joey (Charmaine) Osmond; her siblings Lloyd (Joan) Cull, Brian (Anne) Cull, Juanita Cull, and Malena (Raymond) Gates; Grandchildren, Matthew, Steven, Adam, Nikki, Christopher, Phillip, Samantha, Jennifer, Justin, Devin, Sarah, Heather, Bobby, Jenny, Mikki, Bailey, Nathan, and Nicholas, as well as 8 great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A heavy presence in The ACW, Red Cross, church markets and concerts, community events, and anything she could possibly be involved in, Rhoda was an incredibly selfless and loving person. There wasn’t a person around that she wouldn’t offer assistance to if in need, especially if that need was for a cup of tea, or a place to stay the night. She was also a lovely poet and songwriter. It might be too late for her to see, but we’d like to include a piece of hers for print.
If I could catch a rainbow,
I would do it just for you
and share with you it’s beauty,
on the days you’re feeling blue.
If I could build a mountain
You could call your very own
A place to find serenity
A place to be alone
If I could take your troubles
I would toss them into the sea
But all these things I’m finding
Are impossible you see
I cannot build a mountain
Or catch a rainbow fair
But let me be what I know best
A friend who is always here.
There will be a Memorial Service held at the Church of the Holy Spirit, on August 19th, at 2 pm. Following will be the interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Shoal Bay, Fogo Island, NL.
The family would like to request for any attendees to the service, to please refrain from wearing black clothing. A last request we’d like to honour from our Mom.
