July 11, 1949 – March 26, 2021
It is with a great sense of loss and sadness that we say goodbye to Dal.
His courage, strength, positive attitude and is wonderful sense of humour as he battled ALS was truly an example of learning to dance in the rain.
Dal spent 25 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a finance clerk before retiring and moving to Edmonton and finally to Sherwood Park.
Dal loved sports. In his early years, he competed in gymnastics and fastball and was a certified life guard. Later in life, his pastimes were playing pool and shooting darts until he discovered his passion for golf. He was a loyal Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Jays fan.
Dal will be remembered for his quick wit, his infectious smile and laugh and his sarcastic sense of humour-you always had to be ready to take a joke.
Dal leaves behind his wife, Della, many family members and a very large circle of friends.
We would like to thank the ALS Clinic and the ALS Society for supplying all the necessary equipment and support Dal required during his journey with ALS.
We would also like to extend a very special thank you to Strathcona Home Care (Chandel, Kirk and Nicole) and of course Dr.Dusang. Their compassion and care will always be remembered. Dal looked forward to your many visits even though he may have joked otherwise.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the ALS Society either online in memory of Dal Newman or by mail to the ALS Society of Alberta, Edmonton Office, 5418-97th Street NW Edmonton AB T6E 5C1.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Raymond “Dal Newman 2021..
