Randall Gregory Clark
April 17, 1957 – July 2, 2021
The world has lost an amazing man. It is with deep sadness that we announce Randy’s sudden passing. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Deb (Degryse) and their daughter, Carly (Ndidi Nhussi); brother, Gerry Clark (Linda); and brother-in-law, Bob Chalmers, as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members. Randy was predeceased by his parents, Maxine and Harold Clark; sister, Kathy Chalmers; in-laws, Laurie and Terry Degryse; as well as a number of other extended family members. Randy will be missed by so, so many friends, including John, Bob, Guy, and Glenn.
Randy was born in Winnipeg while the family lived at the RCMP detachment house in Oak Point, Manitoba. They moved around to several other detachments in Beausejour and Brandon before finally settling in Winnipeg. Fort Richmond would be home to Randy during most of his school years. In the last number of years, he would reconnect with many old friends from FRC. He considered this as such a special gift. He spent many years at the family’s different cottages at Victoria Beach. Victoria Beach was his happy place. Randy loved life, his family and friends more.
Randy was such a people person and for him, that meant getting involved with groups in and around Winnipeg. Whether it was volunteering at Victoria Beach, the Variety Club (which is how he and Deb met), Children’s Hospital Book Market, Operation Red Nose, the Canadian Cancer Society (Patient Transportation), the St Norbert Farmer’s Market and most recently, GerryFest, Randy loved it all.
He had several careers over his time. Randy was a music man, and a night clerk at a couple of Winnipeg hotels. In 1979, he got hired on with the Winnipeg Land Titles Office. He had several positions there until he was seconded to the Better Methods/Better Systems projects. In 2001, Randy went to Red River College, earning his Certificate in Adult Education, and went on to teach provincial employees how to use the SAP software that was being installed. In 2014, he retired from the Province of Manitoba after 35 years of service. Not one to let grass grow under his feet, Randy also worked part time for the Winnipeg Football Club and Midtown Ford. These suited him perfectly as it gave him more opportunity to be with people.
Randy learned construction with the help of his Dad and father-in-law. You would often find Randy working in his “shop” on projects with Carly and nephew, Aaron. On top of everything he accomplished in his life, he was the king of bad Dad jokes, poor delivery included.
In keeping with Randy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering will be held after public health orders allow so all family and friends can celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of the following: Variety Club of Manitoba, the Canadian Cancer Society (Patient Transportation), Diabetes Canada, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
