The children of Martha Pollock are sad to announce her passing at the age of 93 years after a short battle with covid. Martha, known to her grandchildren as “Go Go Granny”, will live on in the hearts of her children: her son, Ron (Lynn) of Devon, AB and daughters, Elaine Foskett (Jerry) of Salmon Arm, BC, and Audrey Sprokkreeff (Don) of Calgary, AB, and son Allen (Audrey) of Parkland County. Grandchildren: Leanne, Chris, Ronnie & Vehlyn- Celeste, Faye & Wyatt – Sheila & Stephanie, Sarah, Andy, Claire & Adrian, and 12 Great-Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Adolf Pollock, her parents, Edward & Emilia Ryks, her brother, Robert Ryks, her sister, Lydia Hughes, and daughter-in law Virginia (Veh Pollock) & granddaughter-in law Lisa Pollock.
Martha was born on May 9, 1928, and grew up on the farm in the Meadowview Area. In about 1945 at the age of 17, she began working at the Dreger dairy farm in south Edmonton where she met Adolf Pollock and they were married shortly thereafter. They moved to their first home in Bonnie Doon then to the Hazeldean area in south Edmonton. Later they moved to a country property west of Edmonton to establish their tree farm/nursery. Later in life, her love of flowers took her to work at Southgate Woodward’s where she showed her talents making beautiful flower arrangements. Martha was never afraid of a day’s hard work and later enjoyed various community activities and especially curling. Always on the go and always smartly dressed for whatever the occasion, nothing held her back, she loved to attend a good music festival or a garage/auction sale. In her spare time, Martha put her skills to work on many hobbies, knitting sweaters and blankets, basket weaving, liquid embroidery but mostly enjoyed working in a great garden.
Martha has enjoyed many lasting friendships and often spoke of how blessed she felt to have them in her life. Along with her strong Christian belief, life revolved around home and children, she gave us all sincere love and support. A private graveside service to honour Martha was held at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Edmonton, Alberta. We would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for the compassionate care mom received at the Misericordia Hospital, Covid Ward 4 East. Donations in her memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of POLLOCK Martha September 9 2021..
