Phillip Sterling Maxwell Sr 19442021 avis de deces

Phillip Sterling Maxwell Sr.
1944-2021
Phillip Maxwell, Sr. (July 2, 1944-January 5, 2021) of St.
George, beloved father, brother, grandfather and dear friend, passed
away Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Saint John Regional Hospital,
following a brief illness.
Born on July 2, 1944, in Blacks Harbour, N.B., he attended
local schools including the Lady Dunn Trade School in St. Andrews,
where he excelled at Auto Body Repair, a trade he approached with
passion and zeal. He quickly developed a keen eye for assessing value
and owned and operated Superior Appraisal. His talents and penchant
for detail lead him in his early years to Cape Breton where he worked
in construction as a heavy equipment operator. Phil was a man who
found the greatest joy in the simple but meaningful things in life. He
took great pride in helping others, enjoyed the quiet solitude of the
woods on a crisp Fall day, hunting trips with his son Phillip and his
many friends who in Phil’s later years were always quick to
offer him a helping hand. Phil was always quick to remind them,
“It feels good to sit and do nothing.” He enjoyed the hard
work of creating things for others to enjoy, particularly Granite Town
Camping, where his warm smile and kind disposition comforted
all.
Phil was predeceased by his parents, Horace and Eunice
Maxwell (Hatt), of St. George; his brother Donald, of Saint John, and
his dear cousin and friend Gary Snelgrove who was like a brother to
Phil.
He is survived by his sister Valerie and her husband Michael
Atkinson of Salisbury, N.B.; three children and their spouses; Tammy
and husband David Mitchell, of Calais, ME; Lorie and husband Scott
McLaughlin, of Moncton, NB; and Phillip and his wife Jennifer Maxwell,
of St. George. Surviving also are his grandchildren of whom he was so
proud and with whom he enjoyed spending so very much time: Gregory,
Emily and Megan Mitchell; Jenna and Hannah McLaughlin; and Lily, Kate
and Allie Maxwell; for all of whom he affectionately declares,
“Love You Always and Forever.”
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home
(755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. A graveside service will
be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery, St. George NB on May 22,
2021 at 11:00 am with Rev. Mary Ann Langmaid officiating. Keeping with
Covid 19 protocols, masks use and social distancing will be enforced.
In lieu of flowers, and consistent with Phil’s wishes, the
family asks that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation
of Canada.
