Obituary
It is with great sadness the family of Philip Elgin Davis announces his passing away suddenly and tragically on Monday, September 13, 2021 at the age of 67.
Phil was born on May 3, 1954 in Sandy Point, Nova Scotia. He grew up in Geraldton where he attended BA Parker Public School and Geraldton Composite High School. At an early age, he was employed as a truck driver at Kimberly Clark where he also became an owner/operator.
He is survived by his wife Carole (nee Lepine) and his sons Patrick (Corine Meijaard) of Sioux Lookout and Brian (Adrienne) of Thunder Bay. His memory will be forever cherished by his grandchildren: Kayla (Clinton Lachinette), Priscilla and Evan. He was also known as Grampa to Logan, Alex, Hollie, Isabelle, Andrew, Benjamin and Abigail. He is survived by brothers Mike (Cathy) and Dave (Patty), his sister Christine, his brother-in-law Claude (Carol Ann), his sister-in-law Lise, his uncle Larry Nickerson (Alice) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Phil was predeceased by his parents Elgin and Betty; in-laws Jacques and Viola Lepine; sister-in-law Veronica; brother-in-law Don; daughter-in-law Cindy.
A devoted family man, his greatest love in life was his wife – he was so proud of his sons – he cherished his grandchildren – he was a hero to his 4 legged friends. He could be found on May opening long weekend, fishing and camping alongside his son Brian. He was very involved in his son Patrick’s stock car racing – working on the car and then being one of the pit crew. For the past 11 years, Phil, Carole and their Chihuahua furbabies spent their winters in Texas and later in Arizona. They became full-time RVers hauling a toy-hauler carrying their Jeep and Harley.
Phil was loved and appreciated by immediate family, in-laws, friends and acquaintances. He could be opinionated but also had a great sense of humor. He was a mentor, a Rock, a go-to guy to so many.
Phil always gave his ultimate best at whatever he undertook, whether it was being there for family, his work, or his past involvement in the Geraldton Snowmobile Club and for the last few years, stock car racing. He was well-known and respected in the world of car racing.
Phil was a hard-working man, honest and reliable. He was driven with passion and enjoyed life to the fullest. Phil enjoyed boating, quading, fishing, hunting, 4 wheeling in the desert, traveling and cruising on his Harley! He loved riding his Harley with his southern friends, with Thunder Bay’s Superior Riders or alone. Phil loved being behind the wheel no matter what he was driving.
One of Phil’s passions in life was driving big rigs. For many years, he was an owner/operator. He had gone back to driving trucks locally last fall. You could see him behind the wheel of a truck, big grin on his face, his passion to the end. He left us doing what he loved doing. He passed away on an industrial job site while hooking up his load.
Phil is gone in body but his spirit and soul will live on in all of us forever! He leaves behind an incredible legacy to his children, grandchildren and to future descendants. As he always said, no matter what, you always have to keep the wheels turning forward!

Only God can make a dad with such a loving heart, who cares about family enough to guide them from the start –
Believing in them always, so proud of what they do – Thank Heaven for a husband and dad as wonderful as you!
