Suddenly at his home Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at the age of 65. He was the beloved son of Ralph and Olive Campbell, both deceased, and dear brother to Lucille Young and John Campbell (Deb). He was predeceased by his sister, Joyce Stephenson (Jim), and his brother-in-law, Truman Young. Peter will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. Peter was held in high esteem by his colleagues at Durham Regional Police Service for the excellence of his work over many years as a dispatcher, 9-1-1 operator and front desk clerk. Peter took great delight in singing the national anthem at various sporting events, locally and provincially, Toronto Maple Leaf and Hamilton Tiger-Cat games being among them, and as his reputation grew, fans looked forward to his rousing renditions. He also worked in radio as a sportscaster, where his encyclopedic knowledge of players, teams and leagues delivered in a strong, clear voice was much appreciated by listeners. On a more personal note, Peter will be remembered for his hearty laughter, even temperament, and outgoing nature. He loved to chat and was a friend to many. He was blessed to have Brigid as a special friend as the two of them shared many of the same interests. At his family’s request, no formal service will be held, as concerns about coronavirus remain high. Instead, a Celebration of Life will take place in the spring, preferably outdoors when the weather is nicer and the risk of infection is much lower. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Peter’s name to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 30 Port Hope or the Salvation Army may do so at www.MacCoubrey.com.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Peter B
