Penca Wright (Dimitroff) peacefully passed, on September 1, 2021 at Mariposa House Hospice at 93. Penca was born Dec 9, 1927 in Bulgaria, daughter of late Encho and Vulka Dimitroff. Wife of the late Herbert Robert Wright. Beloved mother of Kathy and cherished son in-law Dave. Sister to the late Dan Dimitroff. Sister-in law to Elvie. Proud Nana of Alan and Matthew Majik.
Penca came to Canada in 1941 and started out in South Porcupine, Ontario. She came in the middle of the winter and was unaccustomed to snow.
Here is where she went to school and learned English. She attended business college in 1944/5. She worked at an addressograph before getting married and having a family in Toronto. Once her daughter Kathy became a teenager she went back to work at Eaton’s department store. Starting in the retail fine foods and working her way up to the administrative offices. She retired in 1992. Coincidentally grandson Alan was born that year. She had a new purpose.
Mom loved to travel and meet new people everywhere she went. Her last big trip was when she took us to Bulgaria in her 90th year. She was so happy to take us – just as her father had taken her and her brother in his 90th year.
We would like to give our thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, psw’s and staff at the Mariposa House Hospice. They made mom’s last days full of warmth and comfort. Without them we are not sure how we could have managed.
Friends may call at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home 157 Main Street South, Newmarket on Saturday September 11,2021 for visitation from 12 – 2 p.m. with service following at 2 p.m. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
