Paul Runge 2021

Paul Runge, of Hanover, passed away peacefully with his devoted wife Lorrie at his side at the Chapman House Residential Hospice in Owen Sound on Sunday, April 4, 2021. He was 64.
Paul was born in Ancaster to the late William and Lois (Cameron) Runge. He moved to West Grey in his late teens where he met and fell in love with Lorrie. Paul built the family’s home from the ground up, adding additions as the Runge clan grew. He worked as a contractor in the modular home industry and he valued the customers he met along the way, forging many friendships from these encounters. Working alongside his sons, Paul passed along his many talents with both boys going on to build their own homes. Paul and Lorrie loved travelling in the Caribbean and looked forward to their annual cruises. After retiring in 2013, Paul kept himself busy with his passion for gardening…. his giant red tomatoes will be etched forever in the minds of his friends. He was always sure there was a supply of freshly cut flowers and fresh vegetables for the table (long before Lorrie was out of bed in the morning). Most recently, Paul developed a love and an eye for live edge woodworking, creating wonderful boards, tables and shelves for the area markets. He was never one for popular culture, but he knew every word to ALL of Allan Jackson’s songs and found comfort in his music in his final days.
Devoted husband of Lorrie (nee Boylan) Runge. She and Paul would have celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary in June of this year. Left to remember their father are Sarah Runge of Burlington, Paul Adam (Ashleigh) Runge of Cold Lake, Alberta, Rachel Runge of Burlington and Matthew (Sarah) Runge of St. Joseph. Grampa to Paul Warren, William, Cooper, Piper and Meredith. Paul is survived by his brother Christopher. Forever missed by his furry companions Riley and Tucker. The family is grateful for the friendship, love and support of Delores Reay of West Grey and Paul’s many lifelong friends of Ancaster, Ontario. Predeceased by his parents William (2012), Lois (2017) and parents in law Luella Van Eck (2009), Charles Boylan (1979) and Morris Van Eck (2011).
The family extends their sincerest thanks to the staff of Chapman House Residential Hospice and South Bruce Grey Health Centre – Durham. In keeping with Paul’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
When circumstances permit, family and friends will gather to celebrate Paul’s life in a way that he would like to be remembered.
Memorial donations to the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce -Chapman House were appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Paul Runge 2021..
