Paul Joseph McCarthy
1944-2021
Paul McCarthy of Miramichi, NB, passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, August 4th, 2021. He was 77 years of age. Born in Nelson, Miramichi on April 1, 1944, he was the son of the late Joseph V. McCarthy and Marie Fitzpatrick.
Paul served in the Royal Canadian Dragoons from 1961-1964, and was stationed in Camp Borden, Camp Gagetown, and Cypress. He worked for General Motors for several years and opened a tavern in Shediac, NB, before starting his business McCarthy Sales in the Miramichi. Paul was an Entrepreneur, a Businessman, and was very passionate about cars. He was very proud of his daughters, and had a very special bond with his grandchildren.
Paul will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Lucille McCarthy (Gautreau); his daughters: Lisa Doucette (Paul) of Fredericton, NB, and Lynn Van Dalen (Rick) of Burlington, ON; sister, Karen Traer (Donny) of Miramichi; grandchildren: Alyssa, Cole, and Kayley; as well as his cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Anne-Marie Brown; and brother, Danny McCarthy.
A PUBLIC visitation will take place at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Thursday, August 12th, 2021, from 2-4 PM. A PUBLIC Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Adams Funeral Home Chapel immediately following the visitation on Thursday, August 12th at 4 PM, with Father John Keoughan as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
PLEASE NOTE: The funeral home will be taking a flexible Living with COVID-19 approach based on the needs of each family. At this time, facemasks and social distancing are encouraged in the funeral home.
