Otis Vincent Grant
1930-2021
It is with great sadness that the family of Otis Vincent Grant of
Canterbury, NB announce his passing on September 4, 2021 at the Upper
River Valley Hospital in Waterville, NB. Born on December 15, 1930,
he was a son of the late Eldon and Ethel (Dow) Grant.
Otis worked as an Engineer for thirty six years for the Canadian
Pacific Railway in Toronto, ON. After retirement he moved back to
Canterbury, NB and enjoyed his winters in Largo, Florida and summers
at the cottage on Skiff Lake where he loved to putter around the lake
in his “old brown boat”. He was a member of the Ontario
Steam Engine Association, St. Mark’s United Church in
Canterbury, NB, Canterbury Lion’s Club and the Masonic Lodge in
Woodstock. Otis enjoyed hunting with his buddies on Manitoulin
Island, fishing with family and friends, swimming in the pool,
learning to golf and making new friends. He will be remembered for
countless happy memories and fondly for his insatiable sweet tooth and
love of all thing maple that he passed down through his family.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of thirty two years, Anne Grant;
his children, Allen Grant (Rachel) of New Maryland, NB and Heather
Murchland (Randall) of Skiff Lake, NB; a step-daughter, Cheryl Langill
(John), Campbell River, BC, his grandchildren, Jennifer Mills
(Bradley), Kimberlee Grant, Evan Wright (Cecile), Amanda Warner
(Andrew) and Dylan Murchland; three great grandchildren, Ella, Charlie
and Evelyn; sisters-in-law, Lois Pappas and Lois Houlihan; a niece,
Wendy Eustratin and a nephew Peter Pappas.
In addition to his parents, Otis was predeceased by his first wife,
Mary (McKibbin) Grant in 1986.
A funeral service will be held at St. Mark’s United Church, 99
Main Street, Canterbury, NB on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 1 p.m.
with Rev. Greg Williams officiating. Interment will be at Marne
Cemetery.
Friends are invited to join the family at 161 Lacoote Drive, Skiff
Lake following the committal service to share remembrances of
Otis.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Otis, the family
has suggested St. Mark’s United Church or Marne Cemetery.
