Orest Fosty
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Orest Fosty on November 18th, 2021.
Orest was born on October 27, 1939, to Peter and Ann Fosty on their farm in Gronlid SK.
He will be remembered by his daughter Talleen (Darwin) Novak, grandchildren Walker and Piper, son Mikeal, as well as his siblings Mary, Angeline, Joe, Bill, Natalie, and Arlene. He will also be remembered by his second wife Frances Hanson and her family, stepson Randy (Yvonne) Hanson, grandchildren Nicholas (Melissa and great granddaughter Arielle), Alexander (Anapaula) and Chantal (Dusty), stepson Barry (Deborah) Hanson, grandchildren Matthew, Kirsten (Bruno) and Victoria, stepdaughter Arlene (Robert) Wells, grandchildren Aubrey (Gavin) Bogdan and Christa (Brad), stepson Craig (Karen) Hanson, grandchildren Jasmine and Julia, and stepdaughter Leanne (Kit) Cheung, grandchildren Nathan and Mikayla.
Orest was predeceased by his first wife Jeanette nee Matieshin, his parents Peter and Ann, brother Morris, sisters Pauline and Verna and step grandson Spencer.
Orest worked at the University of Saskatchewan for more than 28 years. After retirement he enjoyed travelling as well as volunteering at the Fringe Festival, the Vanier Cup and his church.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 26th at 2:00 pm at Grace-Westminster United Church, 505 10th Street East, Saskatoon.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Warm and Cozy for their exceptional level of care that allowed Orest to pass away peacefully.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Project Lifesaver, Saskatoon Search and Rescue (projectlifesaversaskatoon.org).
