Obituary of Murray Harold Carpenter
It is with great sadness that the family of Murray Harold Carpenter, loving husband of Thelma Carpenter, announce his passing on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Kennebec Manor with his family by his side. Born in Woodstock, NB on September 7, 1932, he was a son of the late Harold and Jennie (Purrington) Carpenter.
Murray loved to volunteer his time including past Board Member, Committee Member and Past President of the Bayview Credit Union, past Board and Committee Member of Simonds Co-op Ltd, Treasurer of Fundy Funeral Co-op Ltd, Accountant for Fundy Co-op Development Council, Board Member and District Administrator Little League Baseball Canada, Board Member and assistant Fall Fair Manager of the Saint John Exhibition Association, V.P. Saint John Chapter of the Kidney Foundation and Chair of their Peanut Campaign, Producer and Host of Fundy Cable Co. Ltd., Cub Scouts leader, Seniors Games, Special Olympics and was proud to be a Goodwill Ambassador for the City of Saint John.
Murray will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Thelma; daughters, Darlene Winchester (Gary Denton), of Saint John, Debra Ratcliffe (Barry) of Quispamsis, Daphne DeBouver (Rick) of Coldbrook, NS and Dawn Burley (Harry) of Saint John; grandchildren, Adam Winchester (Sabrina), Amy Brothers (Joe), Mark McIntyre (Elaine), Craig McIntyre, Jillian McIntyre (Victor), Kelly Pearl (Matt) and Ryan DeBouver (Nikki); great-grandchildren, Walker, Heidi, Kinley, Robbie, Joshua, Riley, Connor, Leigha, Abby, Victoriah, Chasten, Jaeda, Carsen, Cohen, Deni and Aniston; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Murray was predeceased by his daughter, Dianne Lynn; brothers, Leland and Russell; sister, Lillian
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Saturday, November 6, 2021, from 5-8 pm and Sunday, November 7, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm A funeral service will take place on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 2:00 pm from RiverCross Church, 61 Forbes Drive, Saint John. Due to Covid-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings by the Government of New Brunswick, all those 12 and older attending the visitation and service will be required to show proof of vaccination and a piece of a government-issued ID or proof of medical exemption. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed and can be viewed by visiting Murray’s obituary. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.   1. Reading Mr. Carpenter’s accomplishments, community involvement and family ties, I can see that he will be missed, but the lives he touched will not soon forget him.
