MINARD – Catherine J., 89, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away peacefully in QEII Health Science Centre, Halifax on Friday, December 17, 2021.
Born in Maitland Bridge, Annapolis County, Catherine was a daughter of the late James Albert “Al” and Catherine (Morine) Lohnes.
Catherine was a former teacher and taught school for three years before working at the Liverpool Sales Outlet of Sears Canada for twenty years. She enjoyed a variety of activities such as badminton, tennis, line dancing, cross country skiing, bridge and curling. Catherine was active in Kinettes and Kay-40 and the Queens General Hospital Auxiliary for many years and was a member of Zion United Church and the U.C.W.
Catherine is survived by her daughters Donna (Cameron) Hartling of Lower Sackville and Elizabeth (Neil) Emenau of Conquerall Mills. Grandchildren Melanie (Tyler) Waye and Adam (Angela) Hartling and her great grandchildren Felicity, Zoey, Desmond, Zachary, Connor and Xander.
Besides her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her husband Ralph, her sister Vera Lohnes, an infant sister Elsie and her brothers Walter, Brenton and Vernon.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Reverend Carol Smith officiating. Burial will be in Zion United Cemetery, Payzant Street, Liverpool. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Queens General Hospital Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
