SAUNDERS, MERYL MARGARET (nee McMaster)
Passed away quietly with family by her side on November 26, 2021, at Hamilton General Hospital after an extended illness at the age of 89. Predeceased by her loving husband Max (2000). Survived by her seven children, Thomas (Jennie), Nancy (Chris), Robert (Ann), Lisa, Scott (Lisa), Max and Michael (Patti). Also, survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer and Thomas Saunders, Michael Duncan, Dylan (Sarah), Spencer (Rio) and Parker Moran, Spencer and Alanna Cawston, Craig Vincent and Abby Saunders, and her big sister and brother-in-law, Erla and John Piccini.
Meryl was deeply loving and caring and will be dearly missed by her many friends and all who were lucky enough to cross her path. Mom dedicated her life to her family and always put others before herself. She passed as she lived, full of love, dignity, grace, and strength. Our family home was a nurturing environment with Mom at the centre. The smell of her wonderful cooking permeated the air. Always a welcoming place for our family and friends growing up. Mom wrapped spouses and partners into the fold, ensuring they knew they belonged. She taught us by example to always be kind to others. She loved us unconditionally and always supported our endeavours.
Heaven has called one more Angel home.
The family will celebrate Meryl’s life in the new year, fulfilling Mom’s final instruction to us – have a PARTY! Sadly, COVID restrictions limit the numbers permitted at public venues. In lieu of flowers, the family requests anyone wishing to make a donation consider Ronald McDonald House (Hamilton) rmhcsco.ca/donate/in-honour-in-memory-donation or Neighbour 2 Neighbour www.n2ncentre.com/donate
