Maureen Patricia McGuire
December 15, 1939 – April 22, 2021
With sadness, the McGuire family announces the passing of Maureen McGuire in Quesnel, British Columbia.
Maureen was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, educated in Hanley, Saskatoon and Prince Albert, and attended Saskatoon Normal School. Following a year of teaching at Gronlid, she attended St. Thomas More College in Saskatoon, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan.
She taught school in Calgary, Alberta, and attended painting and drawing classes at the University of Calgary. After returning to Saskatchewan and teaching briefly at Swift Current, she relocated to northern British Columbia. She taught at the Nazko First Nation before settling in Quesnel, where she was active in teaching, and in literary and art associations.
She was predeceased by her parents John Ernest and Janet McGuire, and by her brothers Daniel and Patrick. She is survived by siblings Jack McGuire, Sheila Ross, Brian McGuire, Larry McGuire and Michael McGuire, and their families.
We thank Maureen’s friends and the staff at Dunrovin Park Lodge in Quesnel, who provided her with companionship and care for the past several years.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Calgary. Arrangements are in care of Evan J. Strong funeral Services (403) 265-1199.
