Mary Aarts 1925 2021

Obituary of Mary Aarts
On December 27, 2021, surrounded by family, Mary Aarts (Berkvens) in her 97th year, passed away ever so peacefully and has been reunited with her husband Peter and daughter Angela Aarts-Faris. We were so blessed to have her as a mother. She was strong, smart, resourceful, loving and fiercely independent, right to her last days. She will be missed by her son John Aarts, her daughters, Frances Aarts and Rosemary Hicks, her sons-in-law Brian Hamilton, Kenn Faris and Steve Hicks and grandchildren Cyrus, Stephanie, Petra (Dave), Paul (Becca), Samuel, Emily, Alexandra, Grace and Nathan. Mom was an amazing grandmother and met her great-grandson Finn, for the first time the day before she passed. The joy on her face was beautiful.
Predeceased by siblings Joseph, Nellie, Anne, Jim, Harry, John and Theresa, Mary was the last of her siblings to pass so we envision quite the reunion with lots of singing, good Dutch food and perhaps a few games of 1000. She is survived by sisters-in-law Dina Aarts, Mary Berkvens, Helma Berkvens and Tina Van Berkel, and brothers-in-law Jerry (Judy) Meulendyks and Tony (Gertrude) Aarts.
Service arrangements are pending at this time. Details will be published in the coming days.
If desired, memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. Condolences online at www.strathroyfuneralhome.com.
