Mary Eleanor Kuindersma (née Aitken) was born to Ella (MacEachern) and Robert Aitken on July 16, 1933, in Holstein, ON. Mary passed away, at age 88, supported by her loving family, on Christmas Eve at Mountainview Residence in Georgetown, ON. She was a kind, gentle, warm and caring person and those that loved her are happy she is at peace.
Mary was the beloved wife of Robert Kuindersma (deceased). Loving and supportive mother of Mark Kuindersma (deceased), David (Teri) Kuindersma, Jeff (Sue Danic) Kuindersma, and Cathy (Keith Francis) Kuindersma. Cherished Nana of Sarah, Laura, Kyle, Mark, and Catherine Kuindersma; Mark, Aaron and Alyssa Francis; and great-grandmother to Tristan. Dear sister to Alma (Mac) MacRae and Ross (Joyce) Aitken. Remembered and loved by sister-in-law Denyse Kuindersma with many Sundays after church spent at Kevin (nephew) and Leslie’s house enjoying brunch, this was a very special time for Mom. Loved and remembered by many nieces and nephews as a joyous and kind aunt.
Mary had a wonderful sense of humor with an infectious laugh that brought a smile to the faces of everyone who was around her. Mary was always on the go, never one to let the grass grow under her feet, she would be up at the crack of dawn getting the day started. She will be remembered for her willingness to lend a hand to those in need. She loved golfing, curling, dancing and playing cards with all her friends and family. Mary had many cherished friends especially Mary Ellen James and Elspeth Clark, the three of them had lots of laughs and many good times over the years. She loved raising her children on Clarence Street with all the great Blackwell neighbours. Both Mary and Bob were family oriented; they loved helping their children and being with their grandchildren. The two of them would often babysit the grandchildren and Mary is fondly remembered for always bringing a freshly baked batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies whenever she came to visit.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Mountainview in Georgetown and Fairwinds in Sarnia.
