Obituary
We are sorry to announce the recent passing of Martha Ackerman in Ponoka.
Born Martha Rausch, and raised on a farm near Falun, Alberta, she grew up to be open minded, self assured, courageous and intelligent. She was family oriented, caring and a friend to many. She was creative … loving art, music, cooking, and sewing. Though her health became fragile, life in general was good for Martha, and especially when her favourite sports teams were winning! She loved a good joke, and never gave up when hurdles got in her way. Our Martha was an inspiration.
She will be missed by her surviving siblings: Erma, Hilda, Emil, Alfred (Doreen), Walter (Leora), as well as brother-in-law Walter Pohl, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends near and far. She was predeceased by her parents Katharina and August Rausch, siblings Frieda (Rausch) Pohl, Christine (Rausch) Gronvall, Frederick, Lawrence, Otto and wife Frieda, Ella and husband Ken Gascon, as well as brothers-in-law Cliff Woitt and Jack Gartner.
Cremation has taken place. At a future date, Martha will be laid to rest with her parents at St. Paul Waldheim Cemetery, Usona district.
