Mark Richard Kirby 19712021

Mark Richard Kirby
1971-2021
Mark was born on the 24th of June, 1971 in Fredericton and
grew up in New Maryland, NB. His school days were spent at
Priestman Street Elementary School, George Street Junior High School,
and finally Fredericton High School. After leaving school he
attended the University of New Brunswick and received a Bachelor of
Business Administration.
In his early years, he and his family would visit their
grandparents in England. When Mark was 11, he and his late sister
Suzanne started Kirby Cheese at the Boyce Farmers Market and together
they ran it for thirteen and a half years. Upon finishing
university, Mark furthered his travels and lived in Japan for three
years teaching English. During this time, he frequently visited
neighbouring countries and was able to travel throughout
Japan.
In 2000, Mark married Paula Thompson and in 2003, they
welcomed into the world their daughter Nicole. He took up
running as a pastime that quickly turned into a passion which led him
to complete his first marathon in May of 2009. Throughout the next few
years, he ran a total of eight marathons, all the while inspiring
those around him to strive for their goals.
He is survived by his wife Paula, daughter Nicole, and
parents Derek and Gina Kirby.
A public visitation will take place at McAdam’s
Funeral Home on Friday, June 4th, 2021 from
4:00pm – 6:00pm. A private service by invitation only will
take place at the J.A McAdam Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June
5th 2021 at 11:00am. Due to scent sensitivity,
the family kindly ask for no floral arrangements. In lieu of flowers,
memorial donations may be made to the Terry Fox
Foundation.
