Obituary of Marion Doris Evans
Marion was born on October 20th, 1932, in Botwood to Fred and Gertie Waterman. As a young girl of 16 Marion went to work in the telegraph office as a Wireless operator. She grew up on Circular Road and lived there all her life until she moved into Lanes Retirement Living in 2015. In 1951, Marion was introduced to Angus by her cousins Calvin and Goldie.
She married Angus Evans on September 12, 1953, and shared almost 65 years together. Then they were blessed with two sons, Edward George, and Clifford (Tip) Owen (the boys).
She was involved in many organizations throughout her life in Botwood such as The Lions Club, Figure Skating Club, Curling Club, Girl Guides and the Botwood Heritage Society.
In the early 1960’s she worked at the canteen at the Botwood swimming pool for many summers. Before she retired, she worked in the dispensary at Shoppers Drug Mart for many years. She enjoyed camping, fishing, darts and travelling. Most of all she loved having a crowd around for parties, card games and all family gatherings. She taught all her grandchildren how to play many card games and enjoyed it thoroughly.
